Glacial Energy Sponsors Green Data Center Conference

This year, Glacial Energy was one of the sponsors of The Green Data Center Conference. The event was held February 1 – 3 at San Diego State University’s Super Computer Center and was set up to provide a blueprint of how Data Centers can be targeted for cost savings and how these savings can be implemented.

Data centers use a tremendous amount of electricity so it made sense for Glacial Energy to be at the event to explain how the centers can cut their electricity costs by using Glacial’s index product rather than the fixed product offered by other energy suppliers. The theme of the conference was Green, so Glacial also offered up its Glacial Green Program to the participants.

The highlight of the 3 day event was a presentation by Dan Harris, Glacial Energy’s Vice President of Training and Development.

Glacial Energy’s Customers Can Now Sign Up for a Certified Renewable Energy Option

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (May 29, 2009) – The Center for Resource Solutions announced today that the Multiple Mix REC product “Glacial Renewable Energy Credits”, is now Green-e Energy Certified. Glacial Energy joins the growing network of renewable energy providers that offer products certified by Green-e Energy, the nation’s leading certification and verification program for renewable energy.

“We are very pleased to announce that Glacial Energy will participate in Green-e Energy by offering a certified renewable energy option to its customers,” said Andreas Karelas, Program Analyst. “Glacial Energy’s customized REC solutions have just made it even easier for businesses and institutions nationwide to reduce the environmental impact of the electricity they use.”

Glacial Energy can now offer their commercial clients a flexible suite of renewable energy products. By purchasing Glacial Renewable Energy Credits, customers will support currently available renewable resources as well as aid the development of new renewable resources to be built in the U.S.

“Our customers have asked us for products that allow them to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with their energy use. Green-e Energy REC certification is part of our initial response,” said Joel Glassman, Vice President of Corporate Development. “We are now able to offer our customers renewable products that meet the highest standards in the renewable energy industry.”

Green-e Energy is the leading renewable energy certification and verification program in the U.S., with over 190 participating vendors that sold over 15 million MWhs of renewable energy in 2007. The program provides independent, third party certification to ensure certified renewable energy meets strict environmental and consumer protection standards.

Providers of Green-e Energy Certified renewable energy agree to abide by the Green-e Energy Code of Conduct, and meet strict disclosure and truth-in-advertising requirements. All marketers of Green-e Energy Certified products undergo an annual verification audit to document that the company purchased and/or generated enough quantity and type of renewable energy to meet customer demand and marketing claims.

The Green-e logo, the national symbol for renewable energy excellence, enables a growing number of consumers to easily identify high quality, certified renewable energy options, as well as everyday consumer products that are produced by companies that use renewable energy in their operations.
